Affordable Workspace Challenge (SPACE FORM SPACE)
‘Space Form Space is an online tool that allow users to plan and design nn affordable, self build workspace solution in open plan ground floor commercial units. We collaborated with SpaceCraft to refine a panel based system which anyone could build using simple tools and simple sheet materials. Go to: http://www.spaceform.space to use the tool.
The model is flexible and adaptable. It can be changed to provide various unit sizes and shapes or move the partitioning and re-use it in another site. This flexibility allows a wide range of studio types to be built within larger open plan commercial units.
The design uses full size sheet materials with standard lengths of timber as the building blocks for studio partitions. The system uses either translucent polycarbonate or opaque plywood sandwiched between timber battens that are assembled on site, lifted into position and braced together with wood screws. The panels can be used to form open air screens or enclosures to form a range of studio types within a larger open space.
